Neo-Japanese Empire
The Imperial Japanese Coalition has developed considerably over the last many years. Despite remaining as one of the smaller nations in the galaxy, the Coalition has focused much of it's efforts into weapons development and research as well as military development to protect what few territories the country has managed to amass. New troops are expected to be comparable to those of the Commonwealth, and the Navy grows evermore everyday.
The development of the country overall has no end in sight, and if trends continue it is set to become one of the stronger mid-tier powers in the galaxy by the time space truly runs out in Sol. Of course, the country is still small, and faces the challenges of safety and security in the midst of an intergalactic Cold War between their overcountry, the Commonwealth, and the Singularity of Ma'il. There's no doubt this is not the peak of power of the Coalition, but more of a matter of whether the ambitions and desires of the people and the Emperor can be fulfilled in a time of increasing tension.
Structure
Due to outside political pressures, the Coalition is a delicate balance of a legislative entity composed of representatives from all over the Pacific Isles. This body is more of a petition-based system, which votes on what they “strongly recommend” the Emperor carry out in his policies.
The Emperor himself is beholden to the legislative body, commonly referred to as the Imperial Council, but has much independent jurisdiction - in theory. In reality, the Council is nothing more than a manner for the people to address their concerns to the Emperor, which means he can do as he pleases with that information.
Public Agenda
The Imperial Agenda is currently to expand, develop, and provide the best quality of life for as many people as possible. The well-being of the people is the Emperor’s #1 concern, and protecting them at all costs happens to be one of them.

History
Imperial Japan began as the Pacific Rim Coalition during the age of exploration in the mid-21st century. The countries of the Pacific looked upon the new nations of the world - giant blocks of like-ideologies and power - and decided it was time to form some semblance of their own. The various islands held a referendum, and each and every one voted to create a new block: The Pacific Rim Coalition. It wasn’t long before the Rim established a colony on the Moon, and proved itself to be one of the leaders in the current state of the world.
However, the flu of the late 21st century brought an end to this notion of standing amongst the strong. Control over the colony collapsed, and the country struggled to weather the storm of what seemed like the apocalypse.
After the flu-like plague, many of the following Prime Ministers were weak and ill-willed, decentralizing the government in the Coalition and allowing for the rest of the world’s powers to develop and militarize over the next several decades.
It wasn’t until the Nova-Plague Crisis that the charge of Japan as the head state in the Coalition came about. Japan promised a great deal to the rest of the Pacific Rim in exchange for control of the body. Not only did this establish the country and it’s people at the forefront of the entity, but it centralized much more control into one figure: the Emperor. It was then that the Pacific Rim was renamed into the Imperial Japanese, in name and in nearly all.
This brings the country into the present day: with the conquest of India, a new sun is once again rising in the world. Not one of British dominance and colonialism, but of Japanese Imperialism and militarism - only this time, it will never set.
Demography and Population
The population of the Coalition is incredibly diverse and constitutes several ancient cultures from humanity’s history. Every man, woman, and child are given full citizenship and rights under the protection of the Emperor. A bill of rights - not unlike that of the old United States - exists, which the Emperor has sworn to protect. In fact, the issues encompassed are expanded to make sure every man, woman, and child do not live in poverty or famine. Besides this benevolency, the various people are kept in line by their comfort in knowing some sort of democratic body exists in the country: the Imperial Council.
