Personal history
Born to house Dalfonse in 1808, she learnt she was Transgender in 1832. She was forced to serve in the military as a family tradition for the 'sons' of Dalfonse, serving under Gabriel Regis. During a put down of a rebellion, she lost control, murdering everyone. She fled to the Thornmoor, being led by Sheobetre to Epineville and becoming their protector. She was able to alchemically transition in 1955.
Gender Identity
Marie is transgender, born a man yet identifying - and since 1955 physically being - female. Being called a man enrages her. Despite this, she does not act nor like acting in a traditionally feminine way, being physical, violent and commanding. Gender for Marie does not affect how she acts, it merely is.

Marie does not know nor cares to know about her sexuality. Unknown to her, Marie is bisexual. She finds women like Annabella Danzatore attractive, and will eventually go on to fall in love with Thaelgwyn. She is also attracted to men, such as

Marie received private education as a member of House Dalfonse, being incredibly smart and learned. She is perceptive and aware, yet her common sense and analytical, logical thought is often limited by her rage and myopic perspective.
Mental Trauma
Marie suffers from extreme mental trauma from her childhood and isolationism. She finds it nye on impossible to trust or befriend anyone and always feels like a third wheel or an imposter. She is traumatised by her family's transphobia and her time fighting, particularly Longhorn Farm.

After her family's deaths, she realises the error of her ways. She searches for her long-lost brother, but after he goes missing presumed dead in the battle of Orville, she loses control, becoming a rage-filled monster.
