Sheorine Elf

Sheorine or High elves are the descendants of the Sheor tribe from ancient times. They came from the astral sea 3000 years ago and settled on the shores of what would become Farfadet.

Anatomy

Sheorine Elves are characterised by long ears and slender bodies. They are often around 6 feet tall with long pointed ears. It is rare for a Sheorine to have visible bulk, be it fat or muscle, although not impossible. They have often either pale, alabaster skin, chestnut brown skin, or a cerulean hue. They are humanoid

Genetics and Reproduction

Sheorine elves reproduce like humans, through heterosexual intercourse.

Growth Rate & Stages

Sheorine elves age more slowly than humans, reaching adulthood around age 100. They age at a similar rate to humans, just slowed down, living until often around 800 years.

Ecology and Habitats

Sheorine elves are at their best in temperate climates. They take up residence in Farfadet mostly, a land of rolling hills and woodlands. Their lack of much fat or muscle for most makes cold climates difficult.

Social Structure

Most Sheorine elves live in the Holy Kingdom of Farfadet. They are often very devout to their patron deity, Sheoberin the Golden Light. Their class structure is based around a system of hereditary nobility, with old and storied families that date back thousands of years ruling over cities and even whole regions.

Sheorine elves, as with most sapient species, are very intelligent creatures.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sheorine elves have excellent senses, able to see in good detail for longer than the average human. Their elongated ears allow them to hear faint discrepancies in pitch and timbre in more detail than the average human. Many also develop minor, monodirectional telepathy.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Most Sheorine elves have elvish names. They have personal first names given by their parents and a surname. For nobility, these surnames often are simply 'of the house' - such as Sylvain d'Ivre. For common folk, their names often derive from profession or location.

A major organization of the Sheorines is the Farfadet National Church, a religious body that helps govern the kingdom

Beauty Ideals

Sheorine elves value slender and sharp features, good posture and a polite demeanour - at least in the upper classes. Blue-skinned Sheorines are considered the peak of beauty.

Gender Ideals

Within Farfadet, men are considered dominant to women. Women are often left to domestic jobs while the men fight, or gain social clout, or perform manual labour. It is strictly forbidden under the law for anyone to reject their birth sex.

Courtship Ideals

It is considered the man's role to court women within high society. For a noblewoman to choose her own partner is unheard of and it is often left to the husband or their father to choose a wife. For the lower classes, courtship has less pomp and circumstance and is more normal.

History

Originally from the astral sea and the realms beyond, the Sheors arrived with the Elads 3000 years ago. They split from their other Elvine brethren 1500 years ago, choosing to stay in Farfadet.
