The Red Cloaks

The Red Cloaks
Human and half elven warriors embraced by lycanthropy. They follow the moon phases and maintain a rank system based on the cycles of the 12 moons as well as the Alpha/Omega status. The Red Cloaks started out as a squad of militia in an outskirt unknown village of Tower Rock. The original seven were all fighters of the werewolf type. During an orc raid the majority of the military garrison, a pair of platoons stationed there to protect the village was wiped out. The militia squad known as the Red Cloaks almost single handedly defeated the orc raid. The village celebrated and the local military commander officially recognized the militia into the military. The seven picked up the recovering survivors of the military and absorbed them into the ranks of the Red Cloaks. It was here that the first and only involuntary infection of lycanthropy occurred. The original seven infected the new absorbed five to make a total of twelve. Law was enacted into the unit to insure no new infections would ever be used to grow the ranks of the Red Cloaks. Extreme testing is done to those who would later become a Red Cloak to insure none would use this gift/curse/infection to create a rebel force or create a military coup.
A rank system was developed; Enlisted: New Moon – (Private) new recruit or aspiring Waning Crescent 1 – (Corporal) Waning Crescent 2 – (Sargent) Waning Quarter - (Master Sargent) Officer: Waxing Gibbous 1 – (Lieutenant) Waxing Gibbous 2 – (Captain) Waxing Quarter – (Major) Full Moon – (Colonel)
A few years later in the city of Tower Rock a cell of were rats were discovered and the Red Cloaks were sent in to eradicate them but as events unfolded the wererats were absorbed by the Red Cloaks as urban warriors and spies further increasing the utility of the Red Cloaks. The methods of application into the Red cloaks were applied to all the wererats to ensure proper unit cohesion. Over the years the only way to grow the unit was through passing on membership through birth. Gender became less of an issue and even new lycanthropes were incorporated into the ranks of the Red cloaks. The unit is now fully compromised as a Tower Rock military unit I Division, 3rd Regiment, 2nd Squadron “Night Crawlers” (The Unseen & Aware) A Troop (Command, Supply, Medic) B Troop (Line) Wolf - Land C Troop (Line) D Troop (Line) E Troop (Ranger, investigator) Rat – urban/intel (any as ranger)
