Owl Bridge Settlement in Ferrum | World Anvil

Owl Bridge

Owl Bridge – A small but significant rope bridge crosses the river here. For foot traffic alone this bridge is maintained by the locals. The small hay fields are often troubled by mice and the locals have helped the population of owls to keep the rodents down. Many folk keep a small horned cat as well. An elk and deer ranch is the largest export here except for the winter. The river is very slow moving and freezes and the ice is cut and exported or stored for the summer months. A small water wheel turns the shaft for a small mill up on the village plateau. New work began on a hoist for next winters harvest of the river ice. Not only will this increase the harvest speed and volume it will better maintain the open water ways during the winter months. Its slated to be complete by winter. The crane will be powered by the water wheel. A large well maintained wooden set of stairs leads down the gorge wall to the water below. POP approx. 140
