It is a keep of about 2,500 people living inside the walls and another 1500 ranchers and farmers in the surrounding area. This small, fortified town, with about 500 Military (I Div.3RD Reg. The Night Spears) to fight off trolls, orcs and goblins acts as a way point between Tower Rock, Eastport and Seven Lakes. Most caravans camp outside the gates in a field of rye to feed the animals and a creek for watering. The town keeps this field free of charge just for the caravans. This alone is enough to get most of the caravan masters to stop here. One inn, The Long tooth Inn, outside the gates will house caravan masters and a guest or two but it is the new inn inside the gates, The Friendly Halfling, that most want to stay at. Excellent food and good drink can be had here as well as entertainment on a nightly basis. A small farmers market runs daily from sun up to sun down, a well-stocked trade post called Silverhorn's Emporium can and will stock adventurers as well as the farmers and towns folk. A notable smithy, Brother Metalworks is also in town in addition to a good Bower who also cares for sick or injured animals and hires out local guides to adventurers and bored nobles hailing from Tower Rock. The lumberjacks and trappers dominate here and do well. The main furs are elk, Flat Tailed Koaber, beaver, Tiger Squirrel, ermine, sable, racoon, bear and deer. The lumber for the entire city state is cut here at the mill after being cut in the forest. A conflict has arisen between the Druids who live in the forest and the trappers and lumberjacks. The Druids want to keep the other two from over harvesting the wood or the animals, but they are aware that such things are needed to keep the populace alive and would accept a controlled harvesting of the forest. As a result the Council of Forestry and Logging was established in 1155. Mayor Cameron Wentworth II helped create the council of forestry and logging nearly 20 years ago. It is only now that the rewards are paying off for the deal.   As of late the town has been plagued with small setbacks like the burning of the rye fields and brigands on the roads. Goblins have been spotted in the area as well as other monsters. Some of the outlying ranchers have had sheep, goats and cattle turn up missing. I Division 3rd Reg. is stationed here as the training center for scouts. With the new garrison and training center stationed here the population nearly doubled. The militia was replaced with military and has been a somewhat confusing change.   Geographical Features from Cauldron‘s Hold:   The Ranzin Forest to the East   The Winding River to the West   North Stonebridge to the West   Huntwood to the West   The Star Peaks to the South   Giants Run Mts. to the South   The Seven Lakes To the South   Other notables of the area:   Miller’s crossing to the West   The Lost City in the Ranzin forest   The Ranzin River in the Ranzin forest   Shroudwood Forest to the South West   Some local people of Cauldron‘s Hold:   Camaron Cauldron II - mayor (human)   Tabitha Cauldron - the Mayors wife (human)   Sir Samson Graystone – Local knight and leader of the five   Malcolm Spellweaver sr. – Local wizard   Basil - profiteer of the Friendly Halfling Inn (halfling)   Ivy - Basils wife and runs the inn for him   Hazel - Basil’s cousin a cook (halfling)   Gulliver Talltables - Basil’s cousin helps with the inn (halfling)   Posie Skipstone - hostess/innkeeper at The Friendly Halfling (halfling)   Anvil Ironforge - profiteer of the Friendly Halfling Inn, Brew master (dwarf)   Brok Bowsmith - bower, guide, tracker and healer of animals (human)   Brook Bowsmith - Brok’s wife Local Druid (half-elf)   Angus - local blacksmith brother of Magnus (human)   Magnus - local blacksmith brother of Angus (human)   Shawn Jugsmasher - Capt. of the militia (dwarf)   Lenore - owner of Long Tooth Inn sister of Annabel Lee (human)   Annabel Lee - owner of Long Tooth Inn sister of Lenore (human)   Teflon Silverhorn - Owner operator Silverhorns Emporium (moon elf)   Kevlar - Owner operator of Silverhorn Emporium   Jack Sharky - Partner at Silverhorns Emporium (human)   Leaf Forester - Council of Forestry and Logging (half-elf)   Bron Axeman - Local lumberjack leader   Bella Chimesalot - Halfling Female Bard (plays at the Friendly Halfling Inn)
