Citizen's Booklet

Citizen's Booklets, often shortened to Citbook or just Book, are credentials issued to every member of the Tower Kingdom, typically shortly after birth and often during the naming ceremonies. These booklets are about 12.5cm by 9cm, bound in cheap, coarse leather and contain roughly 12 pages of papyrus, including the identification form on the inside cover.   The remaining pages document travel, tax payments, public services used, commendations and/or recommendations from Tower officials, associations, legal status, and other key bits of information. The books are meant to be updated roughly every five years, with certain key details carried over in a shorthand notation.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The ID cover is nearly always enchanted with the Capture Inscription cantrip (see https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/eVTmVXb3LPHg) to avoid counterfeiting. It includes the bearer's name, date of birth, place of birth, parents' names, ancestry, eye color, hair color, height, weight, gender, and a semi-unique ledger code.   Another spell developed by the Pillarhand to help identify suspected forgeries is the Reveal Inscription spell which interacts with the capture spell to determine if any modifications were made to the original issuing document.

Data Encoding

When CitBooks are renewed, the data contained in the previous book is carried over to the new Book via a special Pillarhand shorthand called Torfielian Notation.
