Aelric and Why met in Keep: Kayra's Vale. Their marriage was disapproved of by Why's parents in particular, as they were distraught that Why would forego a chance to have children if married to an Unaf. The couple moved to Midlerush to escape the disapproving stares and comments from Why's social circle, but the small-town life has been hard on Why in particular. Aelric does his best to keep Why preoccupied and happy.
