The Inquisition
They are the (not so) secret intelligence arm of The Temple of the Undying Sun
Culture
The organization acts as a check on the power of The Templars, acting in a secretive, investigative and interrogative capacity to root out corruption and protect the Temple from internal and external threats. They also may become involved in the hunting of particularly powerful magic users or relics. Templars fear and despise the Inquisitors, as they must usually involve themselves when The Templars are failing in their duties. Additionally, in times of emergency, Inquisitors will take command of the Templars; though the goal is to restore the templars to order. In other cases, an Inquisitor may take command of the order if they feel there is a holy mandate. The vast majority of Inquisitors are recruited as children. In their roles as overseers of the Templar Order and the Underhand hand of the Rinpoche, they serve as the Temple's investigators and are given considerable latitude to function outside the law. The leadership hierarchy of the Inquisitors runs parallel to that of the templars, although a senior Inquisitor outranks any templar.
