Bīja

Bīja is an empire founded by the tribes of Baratolia that has grown to be one of the most powerful countries in the world.

Structure

The governing council of Bīja, known as the Vláda, was a system with two main dimensions, the military administration, and the civil administration. The Sultan was in the highest position in the system.

The civil system was based on local administrative units based on the region's characteristics. The noble houses that were heads of each local administration would choose ten representatives who would be sent to the capital to advise the Sultan and advocate for their home territories.

While the military administration was volunteer based and run from various fortresses around the country. There were only five Generals and they would advise the Sultan on martial matters.

Culture

Bīja absorbed some of the traditions, art, and institutions of cultures in the regions they conquered and added new dimensions to them. Numerous traditions and cultural traits of previous empires (in fields such as architecture, cuisine, music, leisure, and government) were adopted by the Bian.

Slavery was part of Bian society, with most slaves employed as domestic servants. Unlike systems of chattel slavery, slaves under Bian law were not regarded as movable property, and the children of female slaves were born legally free. And while slaves were not paid, they were often treated with more respect than one would expect. Slave owners were required to feed their slaves three meals a day. Beatings were only allowed for criminal offenses. Slaves were gathered from countries Bīja was at war with or conquered.

Bīja was also known for its rich literary tradition and unparalleled tile mosaics. Tile work often involved complex tessellations and geometric designs .
