Devoid of Life

The ohnzek, creatures beyond creation, uncontainable and impossible to study. Cosmic maws of the void, absorb all manner of life from creation leaving nothing left. Even their lowliest creatures are capable of inflicting a devastating disease that progresses quickly. Those weak of will are consumed quickly, while the strong are left to die a slow and agonizing death. The virulent plague slowly saps away the very weave composing one being, burning away one's soul. What is left after the disease has run its course, is a hollow husk of empty matter. With few cures besides divine intervention, the disease is a death sentence for any unfortunate enough to contract it.
There are three known methods of contracting Voidblight. First and foremost, is to run afoul of a lowly ohnzek spawn. If it manages to succeed in attacking you, there is a low possibility of infection. Secondly, is the consumption of ohnzek essence, the strange matter left behind upon slaying such a creature. Finally, and most, unfortunately, is that the land itself can become infected, which can spread to crops or water sources.
