Tabaxi
Feline Farmers, Stalking Shadows
The Tabaxi make up the majority of Morishima’s population, being a curious race that enjoys their life to the fullest. Tabaxi appearance is as varied as their attitudes. Some tabaxi have features or patterning in their fur like tigers, jaguars, or other big cats, while others have appearances more like a house cat. Still others have unique patterns or might style their fur to their preferences—or might even be hairless!
The Morishima Families
Tabaxi have suffered the most at the hands of the other inhabitants of The Reaches, and still they have stood resilient. While they have attempted in the past to follow the footsteps of the tortles in their path of spiritual enlightenment, their devious and curious nature makes it difficult for them to stay content for very long. Tales of ancient secrets and treasures are enough to get an antsy tabaxi to uproot everything in pursuit of grandeur. As the High Shogunate conquered Morishima, the tabaxi seemed to be the most complacent. Their scheming ways, however, drove them to take many underhanded tactics against the shogunate throughout the years. In ancient times, individual farmers would train to become selective and secret thieves, climbing over the walls of castles to assassinate aarakocran soldiers and leaders, stealing away precious plans in the dead of night.
This sentiment eventually grew into aligned gangs and crime organizations. Making every effort to undermine the control of the Shogunate, they have become widespread and incredibly influential on the many islands of the archipelago. Today they incorporate the assistance of pirate crews, and hire off merchant families to remain an ever present thorn in the emperor's side. Some spirits have even aligned with these mobsters, and support them in their fight for freedom. Your tabaxi may or may not have been aligned with these organizations in the past as an agent, or under their protection. Speak with your DM if you want to incorporate more of this in your character's story.
Today most tabaxi live in assorted villages as farmers or peasantry in the Morishima countryside. Their curious nature has led them to explore and colonize a number of different islands beyond, and even travel onto the mainland, where they have established a number of villages on the Kresea beaches. All villages in the Reaches are subjugated to the High Shogunate, and begrudgingly follow their rule. A small number of tabaxi have become wandering traders, hoping to amass a grand fortune and learn about the great wonders of the world in their short lives.

Feline Agility. Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
Cat's Claws. Your claws give you a climbing speed of 20 feet. They are also natural weapons that you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier instead of the normal bludgeoning damage for an unarmed strike.
