Lord of Air, Anan
Vigilant Shepard
Avatar of Autumn Breeze
To be an elemental lord is to be of such power and volition that no creatures would question your rule. When one thinks of such a being, they often think of the ruthless Incaedus, or the gaudy and extravagant Ma’el. Few would recognize the humble Anan, who is unassuming in presence. His form hunched over, outlined by his billowing, ethereal cloak. His face is featureless, his body mostly incorporeal, and he is often seen wielding a walking stick. Some mortals believe this to be a facade used by some almighty creature, but if so this facade has never once been broken across millenia.
Sole Psychopomp
When a soul wishes to cross into the afterlife but perishes near where the veil grew fragile, it often ends up willowy and wispy, lost in the fervent maelstrom of Caelus. Regardless of how egregious or saintly the soul may be, its final ride is slow and silent. They may reflect on their life in this time, before Anan brings them to their final destination. Why the lord of Air has taken up this duty is unknown, but many inhabitants of the plane believe it a task to deliver both punishment, and mercy. On the rarest of occasions, it has seemed that Anan deemed certain souls unfinished, and returned them to the Mortal Realm.
The Mists
It is known that the lord of air does not aggress in combat. It is peaceful, and prefers to avoid conflict. As such, it seems that his plane has grown to protect his desires. Whenever anything would wish to attack the Vigilant Shepard, they would become lost as the clouds of Caelus would rush to his side, and entrap the assailant in a hazy labyrinth without end.
Truth, Guider of Souls
The grand artefact of the lord of air is seemingly the simplest amongst the grand lords. Fitting, in many manners. The item is noted as a simple looking lantern, indiscernible from any other. It has changed shapes to fit with the shifting styles of the time. Some earliest records have noted it as a simple torch. Truth has two functions - to guide, and to transport. When one wields it aloft, they may either illuminate their path, causing the lantern to shine an unbreakable beam of light in the direction they seek. The second, most interesting function of the Lantern is to detect and to open ‘doorways’ to other planes.
- Item (Lamp)
- Category: Magic Item(Unique)
- Item Rarity: Grand Artefact (requires attunement)
- Weight: 1
When Held aloft, the item shines a beam of light that pierces any barrier or darkness, towards it's wielder's destination. This light cannot harm any creatures, aside from ones made purely of shadow.
Waygate,While attuned to this item, you may spend 1 action searching for a doorway to another plane, or 1 minute to find a doorway to any plane of your choice. Once found, you may open this doorway as a bonus action, allowing travel between planes. If a doorway detected this way is not opened within 1 minute, it disappears.
