Genasi

Genasi
Genasi — creatures born from genies or happenstance — inherit the energies unique to the creatures and objects conceived from the primordial planes. As they are naturally aligned with these forces, genasi can easily command their respective elements as extensions of their own selves, utilizing water, fire, air, or earth as naturally as one might move their arm. Although genasi are rare, they are the most common veil-touched, and as such, they find themselves welcome in lands far and wide.
Elemental Children
As with all veil-touched, genasi are created when a mortal inherits enough magical energies before their birth to change their very makeup. While latent energies caused by planar travel or strange planetary alignment are the most common causes for the transformation into a genasi, there are many more causes. For example, children conceived near places of power may rarely undergo the transformation, and even more rarely, a genie may intermingle with the mortal realm and bare children. As versatile and varied as the sources of elemental energies are, genasi too are diverse and differing, originating from all over the continent of Fehr’gia.
From human to kobold, tabaxi to dwarf, any humanoid species has the possibility of becoming a genasi. While genasi majorly resemble their inherited race, there are certain universal changes applied to each creature who becomes a genasi during birth. For example, genasi of Aecor — the Water Plane — will inherit blue skin, and they have a strong likelihood of growing blue hair that may even be made from water. Additionally, they may even inherit aquarine traits such as gills, scales, or even fins. Similarly, other genasi will experience mutations that reflect their own elemental plane. Because of the diversity of the genasi transformation, very few — if any — genasi are the same. While a certain tabaxi genasi may have red, flaming fur, others still may have bright blue fur, or even a vibrant green coloration. The energies that the planes represent provide infinite possibilities of physical variation.
Because of the widespread nature of the genasi, many societies are at least somewhat familiar with them. However, familiarity does not equate affinity. The treatment of genasi varies as wildly as their appearance, changing from city to city. While a dwarven fire genasi may be celebrated by the dwarves’ because of their veneration of the firelord, an elven water genasi may be scoffed at by the same city. Overall, most genasi will not experience much of a change in opinion among their peers; most societies will embrace and cherish the difference between each other, celebrating what makes each individual unique. In fact, because of the genasis’ inherent magical prowess, they may even be revered by certain cultures such as the orcish or easifa tribes.
Genasi Names
Most genasi will simply follow the naming conventions of the societies they were born from. While some parents may bestow names based on their elemental plane, such as “Slate” or “Torrent”, most parents will name their child simply by what the standard conventions.
