Civilisation Classification

History

Dating back to the 1960's and the Soviet astronomer Nikolai Kardashev to John D. Barrow reassessment of Kardashev's scale, the classification of a civilisation was wholely a theoricatical practice, as the only example Humanity had access to was themselves.   Only in 2083 when Humanity reported first contact with the vessle known as The Entitiy, was the need and ability to define civilisations practical. Over the next 100 years this scale shifted, eventually settling once Humanity reached Boreal and met other civilisaitons for the first time.

Classifications

The scale and type of classificaiton a civilisation is refered to is not a linear progression, the higher the classification type, the more advanced a civilisation has to be. Humanity is classified as a Type 3 Civilisation.   Type 0 -  A type 0 civilisation is one who has a technological level equal to or lower than the first Industrial Revolution on Earth.   Type 1 - A type 1 civilisation is one who has attained digital age technology, i.e. computuing, early robotics. Type 1 civilisations also will have either mastered, or are in the process of researching, genetic modifications - including but not limited too gene splicing, cloning, cell growth.   Type 2 - A type 2 civilisation is a group who have mastered space travel. Simply breaching the atmosphere is not enough to reach type 2. A civilisation must have created colonies or orbital stations outside thier original planet. At this point a civilisation may also be known as a system civilisation, as they are found throughout their planetery system.   Type 3 - A type 3 civilisation is one who has achieved faster than light travel, and thus have began expanding their colonies, orbital stations or exploration missions to other planetery systems.   Type 4 - A type 4 civilisation is one who has colonies or control in more than two planetery systems. Type 4 civilisations have also mastered energy generation on a cosmic scale, being able to generate energy directly from a star. (Humanity theorised this technology as a Dyson Sphere or Stellar Engines.)   Type 5 - A type 5 civilisaiton is one who has colonies or control in two or more galaxies, and atleast 15 planetery systems in each galaxy. This civilisation will have also been to the centre of their galaxies, mastering the concept of singularity manipulation - using black holes as wormhole through space time. - So far no known civilisation has reached type 5 classification.   Type 6 - A purely theoretical classification, as no type 5 has been identified yet, defining type 6 is purely a thought experiment. Type 6 civilisations will have control or colonies in atleast two galatic clusters.
