In the year 2089 CE, the Humans of Earth mastered space travel. Generations of experimentations, of a uniting dream, looking to the stars and wishing to be among them, humanity moved into a new level of civilisation. In just over 100 years from mans first small step, humanity made its second giant leap for mankind. The people of Earth came together united, and spoke, voted, and came to a decision of mankind’s next journey. Populations continued to rapidly build, and Earth was running out of resources, and so the campaign of human colonisation and exploration came to fruition. Humanity sent colonies to the red planet Mars, terraforming the small planet, humanities second planet was thriving before the 22nd century began.
Once Mars was colonised, humanity once again faced the question, what next? Some wished to stay in Solar, humanities ancestral system, develop more colonies closer to home, close to Earth. Others wished to explore deeper space, travel to other systems, other galaxies. So an accord was struck between the two sides. Colonies would be granted leave to explore other systems, but only in our galaxies, and those initial colonists would be selected from all across Earths countries, and they would represent the very best of humanity. At the turn of the 22nd century, 8 scout satellite drones were sent out into the galaxy to explore systems and find an Earth-like planet, only one sending back information, a distant solar system, the Aeteran system.
The first colony ship, Genesis, was constructed, and 186 colonists were chosen to be placed into cryo-sleep, and embark on the journey to the Aeteran system, and the Earth-like planet, dubbed Fate. 12 were chosen to be kept awake for the entire 16-year journey, Captain Samantha Hill, 4 crew members, the security officer, Morgan Stein, Hao Xiāo deep space astronomer and cartographer, chief medical officer Archie Hayes, the head engineer Liam Kelly, and 3 engineering crew. Genesis launched from its orbital creation plant in the year 2112, the first six months of travel, all colonists remaining outside their cryo-sleep, to experience and see the planets of Solar before they leave, never to return.
