Fate/Genesis's name is a reference to multiple servants in the HGW. With Genesis referring to the Book of Genesis, & the line "let there be light" referencing Ferdiad's Claiomh Solais.

Personal history
Ferdiad was a warrior of Ulster's rival nation Connacht. Seeking the training of Scáthach, he traveled to the Land of Shadows. He met fellow student Cú Chulainn during his training, & they joined in a vow of brotherhood while competing for the right to obtain Gáe Bolg. Once Aife of the neighboring country attacked, Ferdiad, Cú Chulainn, & Scáthach all fought. Cú Chulainn captured Aife after a duel. Once they were done with their training, Scáthach rewarded Cú with the Gáe Bolg & gave Ferdiad the Craiceann Adharcach. Both Ferdiad & Cú Chulainn left the Land of Shadows on the same day. Each asked the other if they would join their respective country instead of parting ways, but they both laughed upon realizing that it was not an option for either of them. Sometime after leaving, while out walking in the forest, Ferdiad comes across Medb.Ferdiad falls helplessly in love with Medb but she denies him. After rejecting multiple proposals Medb eventually tells him that if he finds the Claiomh Solais, she'll accept his offer & marry him. Ferdiad then sets out on a quest to find the sword. This quest takes multiple years but he eventually comes back to ask Medb to marry him. Medb tells him that if he can defeat her enemy in the war between Connacht & Ulster she'll accept. However unbenownst to Ferdiad, his opponent is Cú Chulainn. Equal in battle, they both decided to use their respective gifts; Cú Chulainn's Gáe Bolg & Ferdiad's Craiceann Adharcach & Claiomh Solais. However, Cú was too fast for Ferdiad, causing him to use Claiomh Solais on the ground in front of him, making a crack in Craiceann Adharcach. Cú Chulainn then used his Gáe Bolg to pierce Ferdiad's heart. His last farewell to Cú Chulainn was, "Gáe Bolg is a glory given to only the most gifted of warriors. In that brilliant hall of learning, you were our pride."

- Cú Chulainn: Cú is Ferdiad's childhood best friend & rival, having been taken in by Scáthach around the same time. After the incident with Aife the two parted ways. They would meet back up at the war between Connacht & Ulster. The two were on opposite sides & had a climactic final battle, with Cú coming out victorious.
- Scáthach: Both Ferdiad & Cú were taught how to fight by Scáthach. The two competed with each other for the right of the Gáe Bolg. Eventually Scáthach gives Cú the Gáe Bolg & Ferdiad Craiceann Adharcach.
- Queen Medb: Ferdiad first met Medb in his youth, sometime after he left the Land of Shadows. Ferdiad falls helplessly in love with Medb but she denies him.
