Khaled's Meeting of Mystia Myth in Farore | World Anvil

Khaled's Meeting of Mystia

This passage is an excerpt from the book “An Adventurer’s Tale to Enlightenment”.   I was cold. I had been on the road for almost a nearly three years. And I was told by Nedra that I had to go east to the mountains. Where it was snowing. I did not know what I was looking for but I kept hoping that I would find it.   I was wandering in the middle of the mountains, blinded by a snowstorm. In my head, I thought I would die. The path, if you could call it a path, was twisting and turning. I longed for fire but I needed to find shelter. Looking up, I thought I caught sight of an worn down building in the distance. I figured it was an old watchtower that had long been abandoned.   Driving through the snow, I finally found myself at the door. It creaked open against my push and I fell through, finally relieved that I was out of the snow. I laid there on the floor for what seemed like hours. Eventually, I managed to get up. I found some firewood and made a fire in the fire pit that inhabited the center of the tower. I cooked myself some food and laid down on my traveling cot, with only the hope that the snow would dissipate by morning.   During the night, I awoke with a start. I laid on my cot watching the firelight dance across the wall. It took me a little bit to notice, but I realized that I did not feel the warmth of the fire yet I could see the light on the walls. I immediately sat up and saw that what I had mistaken as firelight was actually a light coming from up in the tower.   Now, many people would avoid investigating and I will admit that the thought of going back to sleep, ignoring this weird event, appealed to me immensely. But, like my experience with Nedra, it almost seemed like I was drawn out of my cot by another person. I slowly began to climb the stairs. Each wooden step creaked against my weight. I must have climbed a hundred steps when I came face to face with a door. I was curious as to how light seemed to go through a solid door, let alone reach down to the bottom of the staircase. But even as I wondered that anomaly, my hand reached out to the door and pushed open.   Inside the room, I saw a woman. A beautiful woman. She looked at me kindly and smiled. With just a curl of her finger, I stepped forward towards her. I tried to speak but found I could not. She, however, could.   "Welcome Messenger. I am glad that you have found this place. I have watched you for a long time and awaited your arrival. My name is Mystia of Fatalism. Your journey is done. The entire world will hear of your travels and the gods you have met. Rest now and know that you are blessed."   Almost immediately, I fell asleep.
