The Vaithari

The Vaithari are a semi-nomadic human people who inhabit the Aurathis Plains, thriving in a land of rolling grasslands, coastal shores, and fertile riverbanks. They live in close connection with the natural world, drawing ample sustenance from both the land and sea, ensuring their people rarely know true scarcity. Their communities, composed of interconnected clans and extended families, move in seasonal cycles, ensuring that no region is overburdened and that harmony with nature is maintained.

Spirituality is woven into their daily lives, manifesting in small, everyday acts rather than grand, elaborate rituals. The Vaithari see the world as alive with unseen forces, where nature spirits inhabit the rivers, stones, and winds, guiding those who walk with respect. Offerings of food, song, and whispered prayers are made as a matter of habit, not ceremony, ensuring the continued balance of life. They hold a deep reverence for the Aurashar Yaksha, whom they regard as ancient stewards of the land, wise in the ways of the unseen. The two peoples share a bond of mutual respect, exchanging knowledge, goods, and guidance as they move across the plains.

While largely self-sufficient, the Vaithari are not isolated. Their growing port city, perched along the southern coastline, has begun attracting traders from both The Mosaic and the Reginae of Viranue, drawing goods and ideas from distant lands. This burgeoning trade hub represents a shift in Vaithari life, where the tides bring not just fish and salt but new alliances, technologies, and challenges. Despite their openness to trade, they remain keenly aware that their well-being is intertwined with the stability of the region. Through their strong ties to the Aurashar, they provide indirect support to the Khulwane warriors, recognizing that the distant battles fought against Ro’Gnesh ultimately help safeguard the lands they call home.

The Vaithari are a people of flowing movement—through the waves, the plains, and the seasons. They are neither conquerors nor warriors, yet they are survivors, adapting to the world as it changes around them. Their harmony with the land, reverence for spirits, and emerging role in regional trade make them an essential piece of the Aurathis Plains’ delicate balance.
