Suntailed Fox

The small foxes of the Ishalla desert have been known to accompany the Sand Elves' caravans as pets and companions when they are not wandering the desert and it's surrounding areas alone or as part of a small skulk.

Description

The suntailed fox has straw-colored fur and a black nose. The color of it's tale changes as it tapers down from the straw-color to a vibrant yellow—from which the creature gets its name. Its long ears have reddish-orange stripes on the back. They are a small creature, females are roughly 35 to 40 cm long and a 23 to 25 inch tail with males only being slightly larger. Both sexes have long (9 to 10 cm) ears.

Habitat

The suntailed fox mainly lives in the Ishalla Desert. For unknown reasons it is able to navigate the desert's dunes without issue like the Sand Elves that skulks of suntailed foxes can often be found following. The foxes do not seem to have a strict preference for habitat as they have been found significantly far south along the edges of the jungles that dominate that region.

Sand Elves

The largest population of suntailed foxes can be found following the wandering caravans of the Sand Elves. The two species have a kinship that leaves other cultures baffled. While it, at first, appears to be a similar relationship between that of a dog and owner, closer inspection reveals that it is something more akin to a partnership between fox and elf. The foxes circle the caravan and retriever items or food for the elves and the elves, in return, shelter the foxes in harsh weather and provide water and comfortable sleeping arrangements.
