Basic Information

Anatomy

Medium sized species, lion or beast-like legs, talon hands, large tail with two longer flares, elven ears and two horn-like feather tufts at the top of the head. Humanoid face and feathery hair. Usual eye colour ranges from dark brown to pale amber but green eyes can also happen from time to time.
Average Karni physique leans more towards agility and endurance rather than strength. Male Karni are unusually uniform in shape and size with only small variations between individuals, while females have much larger size variance, from petite to same size as males. In turn the males tend to have more colourful plumage, with white, grey, brown, orange and even red, while female Karni tend to be shades of brown and grey.

Genetics and Reproduction

Karni, like most other species, lay eggs. They are long lived and thus reproduce slowly, with a cycle of about 10 years between fertile periods. Mating during that time will absolutely result in eggs, usually two. The change for each egg to mature and hatch is about 70%, which is much better than most other species. The result is that Karni are not a plentiful but also not endangered in any way.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Well spread all over the world but Eberethis and Tinnaman are kingdoms where the ruling family and much of the nobility is made up of Karni, making them central locations for the species.
