How Song Magic Works

Performance Magic is a form of direct Spirit Manipulation (Spellcasting) that uses artistic performances to do so. This almost always through music, but other art forms such as oration, painting, and sculpting may be used to Cast Spells. To Cast Spells using Performance Magic the user must be able to perform the art; for example a singer must be able to use their voice, a flute player must use both hands and their mouth, a drummer must use both hands, etc.   The biggest mechanical difference between Performance Magic and Pact or Guild Magic is the inability to use the Combine Spell feat. In exchange, Performance Magic is able to continuously cast the same spell for no additional PP cost (though it still costs the same number of Actions each round). This can sometimes result in effects that rival the most powerful spells cast by other Spellcasters, such as continual casting of the Move Earth spell being used to move a literal mountain.   DCs for Saves, power level of spell effects, and Spell Modification/metamagic all work the same for those who directly Cast Spells.
