How Dwarf Magic Works

Unlike Spellcasting, Dwarf Magic has no involvement with Spirit manipulation. Dwarf Mages consume alchemically purified elements to power Supernatural Abilities by "burning" them within their stomachs. The elements are Iron, Lead, Chromium, Platinum, Carbon, Copper, Tin, Zinc, Silver and Gold.

Think of a Dwarf Mage as a short and stout, bearded usually, fantasy-action anime protagonist.   Dwarf Magic powers are treated mechanically as Supernatural Abilities rather than Spellcasting, and therefore may be used multiple times in a round. Rather than immediately causing an effect, Dwarf Magic powers "turn on" the ability to use the powers for the length of an encounter (or roughly 10 minutes). They allow for the manipulation of emotion, "shooting" objects, flight, ranged combat maneuvers, hiding and detecting magic, and a variety of buffs and bonuses.   Talent with a single element has little effect on a Character (gained through the Dwarf Mage feat), but the Twin Mage and Stoneborn feats allow for the use of more elements at the cost of being unable to directly manipulate Spirits (see also all Spellcasting feats).   Twin Mage allows a Dwarf Mage to use two more elements, and if a Character intends to master as many elements as possible through that feat they should choose Silver or Gold as their first element. This is due to the additional Supernatural Ability granted by combining two elements at once, with Silver and Gold being an exception. For example, when Iron and Lead are burned simultaneously a Character is able to fly by both pushing and pulling on objects and surfaces. The Twin Mage feat lists all the additional powers granted by combining two elements.   Stoneborn are a rarity in Sarru Adnati, and on top of being unable to directly manipulate Spirits they are also unable to take a Patron (the Patron Bound feat). In exchange they are the only ones able to use ALL the elements.
