Rhett Cook

Shortly before the war, the Erik & Sons Aerospace company began the process of automating its workforce. It started with menial workers, then the office paper pushers, then the factory floor staff, and ultimately the executive branch. The final human to lose his job to automating was the factory's foreman of 25 years, Rhett Cook. According to the journals he left behind, Rhett tried to fight his unemployment by staying in the facility and fighting back when they tried to come get him. Except they never did. The Great War came before they did, and when the bombs started falling and the few remaining humans at Erik & Sons retreated into the facility's lower levels, mister Cook found himself alive, but alone.   Rhett stayed in the factory for an unknown number of years, living off of preserved food and scavenged goods while learning to avoid the robots that still ran their cyclical operation routines without any direction. He did eventually leave the facility when he saw another human being for the first time, torn to shred by the factory's security detail. There had to be other people out there, so he left to find them. One only hopes that he found somebody.
