Infojunkies

"Knowledge is power. Guard it well."

Also known as Data Addicts, Scribes, Old Scholars, or Batshit Insane Bookworks depending on who you ask, the group informally referred to as the Infojunkies were first encountered by the Portland expedition crew in the town of Eugene, at the University of Oregon. They come from all walks of life and origins but in their present state one thing is universal: A pathological addiction to data collection (among other things.) They are a collection of wizened, malnourished hunchbacks who spend every waking moment of their lives curled over books and terminal screens in their endless quest to catalog as much knowledge as possible. They are most often found in the ruins of pre-war repositories of information, such as universities and libraries.
In their eyes the true cost of the Great War was not the monumental loss of human life, but the annihilation of millennia of knowledge that could have provided the survivors with the know-how to rebuild. They see the present day as a dark age greater than any in human history, and view the preservation of knowledge as an essential mission that will one day bring humanity back to enlightenment. The irrevocable loss of any information, no matter how monumental or ultimately inconsequential, is a great tragedy to them.
The sole exception to this dogma appears to be a ghoul by the name of Crab who acted as one of the only non-senile minds in the group. Why he hands around with this caliber of giga-nerds is a mystery. Or maybe not, nobody asked.
Despite their eccentricities the Infojunkies are an invaluable asset to any who would seek their aid. Their categorical knowledge of almost any conceivable subject has led them to gain a reputation as information brokers. Indeed most of them would be willing to share their collected knowledge, for there is little point in hoarding knowledge for humanity if it is not shared. The only price they ask in return is, of course, more knowledge. If you can tell an Infojunky something that don't already know they will readily trade this information for whatever it is you desire. The only struggle is in finding one of them lucid enough to communicate with; a harder task than one might think.
