In October 23rd 2077 the sirens sounded all over the busy streets of New York.

Moments later the officials of Vault Tec have been parking in front of your mother's lawn and making sure that she was taken away and into the facility known as Vault 69 right under the heart of Central Park.

Fallout: New York Introduction for Vault Dwellers

You have been born deep underground, protected by tons of cement and lead. Almost 15 years after the vault was sealed the 999 women of the vault decided that in order for you, their children to have a chance to survive, they will expand the vault's cryogenic beds capacity to 420, making it enough to hold all of the children that were born and survived to their 16th birthday during their time in the vault. The about 600 survivors lived the remaining of their lives and upon their death all but the last, were fed into the biochemical decompositioner to ensure that the vault will have enough power for the life support systems to survive until October 23rd, 2277, 200 years after the Vault was shielded.
