Session 17: Conspiring Commrades
General Summary
The session began with the players facing down Porter Gage. It was a brutal fight with exploding cars, crunching armor, and brutal hits. When they tore his power armor to shreds and he was on the verge of death, he called out, and the mysterious cloaked man arrived. They saw he was a sentient glowing one. He used strange, almost mystical powers to reform Gage's armor and produced a full-sized minigun from the folds of his cloak.
Leroy had a test of faith when the glowing one told him to stand down, and he did, but he was extremely conflicted. Kutter reamed him for walking away. During the course of the fight, the players were frequently knocked down. Kenny, Ellie, and RM all almost died. Although Leroy didn't fight the glowing one, he did heal his friends. The battle was hard-fought, but eventually, the players prevailed. They knocked Porter Gage out and picked over his gear. The minigun was completely nonfunctional, and the players had no idea how it worked in the first place. Reshaun, however, pocketed his fusion core.
Ellie and RM bickered. RM was mad that Ellie saved her, insisting she didn't need help. Their argument quickly turned into a debate about their nature as synths. Ellie stated that RM knew deep down she wasn't just a machine. While she didn't visibly make headway with her, RM was quieter than usual afterward.
When the players and Ellie headed back to the camp, they found that another internal conflict had taken place between her loyalists and the infiltrators. Thankfully, her loyalists won, but most of the camp and many of the vehicles were destroyed. Ellie was in despair, but Kenny tried to comfort her, offering her a job. Ellie declined.
Afterward, RM and Kenny went hunting as RM said she needed to blow off some steam. They hunted Brahmiluff, but throughout the entire excursion, RM was more emotional and relaxed than usual. Afterward, she became withdrawn, seemingly embarrassed by her slip-up.
