Fort Juno
"Patrol Alpha report. How goes the hunting? 'Not bad Foxtrot, couple of yao guai picking off a few stragglers on the edge of town, situation normal'. Copy, move to quadrant niner bravo and continue your sweep." -intercepted Enclave communications from Fort Juno to a Enclave Scav squad.
Demographics
The Enclave forces that are stationed here are primarily comprised of newer recruits and recently conscripted children of current Enclave veterans from the Appalachian and Commonwealth branches of the Enclave. Four squads make up the force that is garrisoned within the fort itself, these squads perform the mission critical tasks of the fort's operation as well as some secondary tasks and missions which funnel down from the Presidential Bunker periodically.
Government
Fort Juno is commanded by Second Lieutenant Caleb Lincoln, a newly promoted officer who was placed in command of the fort following the Enclave's conquest of the region north of Pottstown. He is a charismatic and highly devoted commander who treats his men fairly and stands firm to the mission of the Enclave, which is to reestablish the old America and eradicate any who would get in the way of that. Lieutenant Lincoln is supported in his efforts to maintain control over Fort Juno by Sergeant First Class Winslow and Warrant Officer Colson. These men work with their subsequent Staff Sergeants and Sergeants to ensure that the base runs smoothly and is fortified and ready for any potential brotherhood counter attacks that will inevitably come their way.
Defences
At least two squads of troopers are out on patrol at one time, utilizing the two Vert-birds on call at the base. One team out of each squad performs arial patrols while the other team patrols at the ground level in search of scavenged pieces of pre-war technology or resources and to eliminate any hiding threats that may be attempting to attack the fort.
The first real line of defense for the fort is the perimeter fence which lines the outer compound, the fence is largely intact and only a handful of entry points exist. These entry points are all barricaded and watched over by the soldiers who are on station at the fort, if one gets past the barricades the fort compound is a vast area, many of the buildings are nothing more than a pile of rubble, but the area is surveyed and protected by multiple batteries of sentry turrets and alarm monitoring systems which are all controlled at the bunker which is the central point of the compound.
The bunker is a concrete structure which is guarded by twin laser turrets mounted at its top and a locked blast door. Once inside the surface structure of the bunker there are multiple offices and resting areas for the troops stationed, this means that the surface level will be crawling with power armor wearing soldiers equipped with energy weapons. If the surface level is cleared, then a locked blast door at the far back corner of the bunker connects to a stairwell which leads down to the substructure of the bunker. This stairwell is protected by laser wall turrets and the substructure beneath houses the remaining troops not found in the above substructure. Unless disabled the substructure is also covered by nearly a dozen laser wall turrets which will destroy any intruders.
Infrastructure
Fort Juno was built atop the bombed-out ruins of the Army National Guard Armory just south of the Pre-war town of Boyertown. Many of the structures of the armory are completely destroyed, with only the scraps of their foundation and their substructures remaining intact. Other parts of the base still remain largely functionally, one such structure lies on the far side of the base in the medical bay and motor pool of the base. The motor pool has been recently retrofitted to enable the base to make repairs and even some minor modifications to the three Verti-birds which are stationed on the base. The primary structure of the base is the central bunker, it is a large one-story concrete structure set at the very center of the base compound. This bunker acts as the primary barracks for the troopers that are garrisoned at the fort. A sealed blast door located at the back corner of the bunker leads to a stairwell which delves down into the fort's true layout, an underground substructure which webs out to encompass almost the entire compound area of the base.
The armory's substructure was designed to be able to accommodate nearly five hundred active-duty troops in the event of a nuclear attack. The surface level of the armory was designed to accommodate many thousand more than that. However, due to the current state of the surface structure, the only garrisoning room now lies within the substructure. The bunker allows for a fully stocked armory equipped with power armor workstations, weapon benches and armor workstations including a healthy supply of fusion cells for energy-based weaponry. The bunker includes room to house all 67 soldiers stationed at Fort Juno as well as private rooms for all Commissioned and non-commissioned officers. The mess hall is fully capable and able to feed and refresh all soldiers within the fort. The base is powered by four fusion reactors located within the maintenance wing of the bunker's substructure.
Assets
Fort Juno is a treasure trove for both Enclave and Brotherhood gear, and because of this the Enclave soldiers that are stationed there are on constant alert for any threats that may come and attempt to steal their gear. Usually, the local raiders and mutant gangs pose no threat to the troopers of the fort, but occasionally a large gang of super mutants or a ghoul horde will attack the fort and pose a greater risk to the soldiers of the base.
History
As part of Operation Blitz, the Enclave springs forth from Fort Buck and the Presidential Bunker, sending forth a massive army of Verti-birds and ground forces into the wider western side of the French Creek State Forest and southern reaches of the Iron Hills Wasteland north of the 422. This lightning-fast expansion capitalized on the brutal conditions of the Winter of 86' and the unpreparedness of the opposing Brotherhood and Minutemen forces which were still trying to combat the cold of the winter and lack of resources that came with it. The Enclave washed over the wasteland with alarming speed and quickly decimated the Brotherhood forces all across the southwestern border of the Iron Hills Wasteland.
Fort Juno was taken by the Enclave shortly after the decimation of the brotherhood forces in Pottstown. Those who retreated back to the fort held off the Enclave for 8 hours, before they were overrun and slaughtered. On January 16th, 2286, the Enclave's flag waved over Fort Juno, signaling their victory at both the fort and Pottstown, and the complete ousting of the Brotherhood of Steel from that region of the Iron Hills Wasteland. Second Lieutenant Caleb Lincoln was promoted from his role as a Staff Sergeant within the Battle of Pottstown, after his promotion he was placed in charge of Fort Juno due to his comradery and leadership of the reinforcement squads recruited from the Commonwealth and the Appalachian Mountains. Lieutenant Lincoln chose Sergeant First Class Nathan Winslow to aid him in setting up and maintaining the defenses and operations of Fort Juno following its Enclave occupation. Nathan proved to be a capable leader and support staff with his iron discipline and ability to ensure that morale stays at its highest within the fort. Warrant Officer Jacob Colson was brought on from the Appalachian branch of the Enclave, he specializes in energy weapons and Verti-bird repair and maneuvers. He runs the motor pool and ensures that communications are stable with the Presidential Bunker.
