Structure

The current Head Manager and CEO of the Keystone Caravan Company is John Parks, the son of Douglas Parks the company's founder. John leads and manages the Main Office, a large settlement built on the outskirts of the city of Harrisburg. John works closely with the other family heads on the Management Board to ensure that the resources and caravans of the company are run and distributed in good order and as efficiently as possible. Each of the Senior Managers as they like to be called have their own spheres of influence and within these spheres, they are the top dog. Ian Jameson the son of Dick Jameson continued his father's company when after he passed, his brothers Douglas and Arthur act as his plant managers who manage the day-to-day operations of the Jameson manufacturing plants, while Ian focuses on the bigger picture of their enterprise and operates the shipping of their product along the caravan routes. Matthew McGlocklin took after his father and evolved the share cropping enterprise to encompass most of the land within the Harrisburg region, he and his brothers have quickly become the dominant brahmin and crop barons within the region and have a strenuous relationship with Bethanie Detwiler the last surviving member of the original four families. Ma Beth as they call her is the sole proprietor of the Water Works, a sprawling water purification facility that is connected to the underground water system within the Harrisburg region. She controls the countless inlets and outlets of the water system and ensure the settlement has clean drinking water for its citizens and its irrigation systems.   The routes that the company uses to move their goods are managed, maintained and guarded by Alice Linehouser. She is the Head Supply Line Manager for all of the trade routes that the company access. Alice is the main inlet for all of the Field Office Managers who set up shop along the different trade routes around the Keystone Commonwealth.

History

The keystone branch of the Crimson Caravan is not nearly as large as its west coast counterpart, but it is no less lucrative. The branch was founded by Douglas Parks and his expeditionary caravan which set out from The Hub on April 3rd, 2231. He arrived in the ruins of Harrisburg on June 10th of that same year and established the Main Office of the Crimson Caravan Keyston Branch within an old pre-war municipal building in the outskirts of the city. Establishing a long-range radio connection with The Hub, the Keystone Branch was officially recognized by The Hub in 2232 with the establishment of the first transcontinental trade route in the United States, a route charted by Parks and his caravan. This route is rarely used and only by the most desperate of caravaneers looking to start a new life away from the NCR and the other organizations within the territory of New California.   The isolation from the Hub meant Parks and his fellow Caravaneers would have to fend for themselves in a new and openly hostile environment. In the early months of its settlement, the Main Office was attacked by mutant raiders who dwell deeper within the ruins of the city. These raiders came in almost endless waves, Parks' mercenary guards delt with as many of them as they could but began to be picked off one by one. Through quick thinking and a coordinated defense, Parks and his men were able to repel the raiders and drive them back into the city. This newfound stability allowed Parks' group to expand their operation out to the surrounding area, finding water treatment plants, manufacturing sites, and massive sharecrop farms all across the region around Harrisburg. Parks and his men established their own claims and entrepreneurial endeavors across the region, each one pouring their gathered resources and wealth back into the Main Office to grow its influence and capital potential. The Parks, McGlocklin, Jameson, and Detwiler families were established as a result of this expansion.   By trading with the surrounding settlers, the families each grew their number of workers and the number of caravaneers at their disposal. WIlliam McGlocklin used the farmsteads he found to create a share cropping system within the Main Office Settlement, gathering up large amounts of settlers to work the fields and tend to the brahmin populations on the farm. Richard "Dick" Jameson found two manufacturing sites that were largely untouched by the Great War, he and his family managed to get them online and began hiring workers to begin the process of creating a surplus of materials and products that could be sold to the wider wasteland population. Bethanie Detwiler found the water purification plant and the water works for the region outside of Harrisburg, with this she and her family became the first Water Barons of the Keystone Commonwealth and gained control over a majority of the water towers within the region around Harrisburg.   With each of these endeavors beginning at their own pace, the size of the Main Office grew exponentially within the first decade of Parks and his caravan arriving within Harrisburg. With greater numbers came more caps and with that came the ability to hire more muscle to guard their supplies, Parks made the executive decision to begin to hire the very raiders that had once attempted to wipe them out but kept a close eye on them all the same. The new muscle proved to the betterment of the Main Office, raider attacks began to plummet, and the caravans of the company began to venture further out to the nearby settlements around the region.   The Main Office and the families enjoyed a fifty-year period of largely peaceful expansion and economic progress, slowly becoming one of the largest settlements within the Keystone Commonwealth and perhaps even the eastern seaboard. Parks and many of the other family founders died during this period, having their children succeed them. In 2283 two Verti-birds bearing the crest of the Brotherhood of Steel touched down outside the limits of the Main Office's main district. A large group of men clad in power armor stepped off the aircrafts, led by a bearded man with a rough expression. The man introduced himself as Star Paladin James White, he was sent to make contact with the caravan company and to potentially broker a partnership with them. After a long negotiation, Kodiak's brotherhood and the Keyston Caravan Company forged a trade partnership, the company would establish a trade route between Harrisburg and Iron City. Named The Steel Road, or The New Silk Road, this trade route followed the pre-war highways of 322, 422, and then 222 to go from Harrisburg into Reading and then up toward Iron City. This trade route greatly boosted the military might of the brotherhood while also boosting the trading power and reach of the company, allowing them to set up field offices all across the KOP Wasteland.   In recent years this trade route has come under attack by Enclave forces that have captured Reading. This incursion threatens to cut off Iron City and all the KOP field offices from the resources of the Main Office. Star Paladin White and the Maulers have been dispatched to Fort Dominus to handle the campaign against the Enclave in Reading and to ensure the caravans moving through Reading go forth unhindered into the wider KOP.
