Kæl Lyrægh

Kæl Lyrægh lies past the northern passage of the Kieran Slee. While it has been a traditional rival and a feud between Kæl Lyrægh and Kæl Rausc has lasted for generations, Taisech Shâríl Lyrægh has given the boon of hospitality to her cousins in the south.

Government

The governance of Kæl Lyrægh is consistent with traditional Kælic Bryndland communities. A Taisech, selected by the druids is responsible for stewarding the land through the Talún Gaes and speaking for the people of Kæl Lyrægh. Most of the mundane governance is handled by the people themselves. The Taisech only intervening in cases of unfair abuse or impasse between two or more parties. The Taisech is also responsible for offering hospitality to guests or travellers and keeping the public hall of the kæl.

Industry & Trade

Kæl Lyrægh has an abundance of Iron ore in the Kaalva Bluffs on it's northern border. Scattered throughout the kæl, there are small local forges and smithies that produce smelted iron and forged iron products.

The post in the village of Crozoa attracts a great deal of trade. Artisans from the kæl, and as far away as the Kieran Slee, come here to buy and sell goods from throught the Kælic Highlands.

Infrastructure

Kæl Lyrægh contains a major regional crossroads of two highways. The Nöroa which passes south through the Kieran Slee into Kæl Rausc and continues north to the capital of Ríogh Arâdi. And the Jadran Road, which stretches west in parallel to the lands of the Kharian Rheæg.

Districts

In the western region of Kæl Lyrægh, near the Taur Ymagâr forest and at the base of the Stone Giant's Tusk lies a tightly-knit community of Bryndffolk, Svakktral, and Gundtral known as Halnæ's Créche. The Créche is a small collections of tin mines, farms and grazing fields that rest on the verge of the Taur Ymagâr.

Guilds and Factions

  • Taisech Shârîl is the leader of the kæl, bound to the land and speaker for it's people
  • Aengthîr, Drumohr of the Druí Roth Mohr leads a circle of druids who have arrived to organize resistance in Kæl Rausc against the occupying Vörkhozi Legions there.
  • Taisech Ouryn of Kæl Rausc is a guest of Kæl Lyrægh and coordiantes with the Druí Roth Mohr to keep the occupation of Kæl Rausc from stabilizing. Ouryn also acts as leader and speaker for the Kæl Rausc refugees who have fled through the Kieran Slee.

History

Kæl Lyrægh is older than her neighbor south of the Kieran Slee. Kæl Lyrægh was first settled by Bryndffolk migrating east through the Kælic Highlands and through the massive kæl to the north that now contains the halanrígh (Bryndspek for "Rígh's Hall") of the Rígh Arâdi.

The kælffolk of Kæl Lyrægh and Kæl Rausc began their feud after the kaelffolk of Kæl Rausc selected their own Taisech from their own numbers. The Taisech of Kæl Lyrægh objected, and attempted to force their dominion over both kæl through crékh (Bryndspek for "raid"), but were mostly unsuccessful, ultimately resulting in a tlí rígh (Bryndspek for "Rígh's Judgement) from the Rígh Arâdi.

The two Taisech have been feuding for generations, sending warbands over the Kieran Slee on crékh and rustling cattle heards from each other. At times verging on open warfare. Each death which occurred during this time became justification for the next crékh and a larger warband. leading to regular kægh (Bryndspek for "battle") almost annually and compelling both the Rígh of Arâdi and the Ardrumohr to force a treaty of peace to be negotiated on the Kieran Slee.

When the Vörkhozi invaded Kæl Rausc, the bond of shared culture and history between Kæl Lyrægh and Kæl Rausc came forward. The displaced refugees of Kæl Rausc, including Taisech Ouryn were welcomed as guests. Taisech Shâríl's hospitality has eased the hardship that the refugees have been forced to endure. The Talún Gaes in Kæl Lyrægh and the neighboiring kæl which have offered hospitality to the refugees of the Vörkohzi invasion has allowed the kæl to support the additional burden upon their resources.

Natural Resources

Historically, Kæl Lyrægh has always been less prosperous than it's neighbour Kæl Rausc. It's land is not as fruitful as the rich soil on the southern side of the Dyperogg Ridge. However, since the invasion and the curse of the Talún Gaes on Kæl Rausc, Kæl Lyrægh's resources have been strained.

Kæl Lyrægh's iron fields provide it the resource that it's southern neighbor lacks. The ease that ore can be gathered in the northern regions also support a healthy smithing culture there.
