As the Strivus (Roots) evolved from a landmass to a sprawling home to all walks of life it went through countless discoveries, tragedies, and changes. These major events which shape the modern world are sorted into 'Eras'  by historians. Not the kinds of Era that last several hundred million years, but spans of exactly 100 years which are named according to the most influential changes and attributes.
