The Web
The Web is a closed group made up of NPCs and is active in the backstory of a few active fairies, but is no longer open to new ones.
Structure
While the Web is as communally focused as any other organization in Faetalia, there are still certain specialized roles handed to those who best fit the position.
Leader: The One Who Remembers
The One Who Remembers or T.O.W.R. has been around longer than any fairies currently alive. A powerful necromancer, rumor has it he once died and revived himself. Though, the cost of this revival was immense. While he has maintained immortality, he doesn't have a lot of his own magic left. In order to keep himself powerful, he feeds off the magic of his loyal followers. Don't worry though, it's all very consensual.
Co-Leader: Ariel Eventide
The co-leader and T.O.W.R.'s husband, Ariel takes great pride in keeping all members of the Web well taken care of. Using his necromancy powers, he can revive even the most rotten meat back to something consumable. With his husband's passion for taxidermy, he makes sure none of the innards go to waste, keeping all members of the Web happy and fed.
The Necromancer: Etelin
While there are many necromancers that find their home within the web, Etelin comes from a line of some of the most powerful. Due to her pronounced abilities, she, and her family before, are all largely responsible for contributing their magic to T.O.W.R.
The Crypt Keeper:
Bodies are often needed for rituals and sacrifices, whether that be an animal or even a fairy. The Crypt Keeper tends to these bodies, storing them and making sure they're always prepared for when they're needed.
The Archivist:
Manages ancient spell books, grimoires, cursed texts and other magical oddities.
The Illusionist:
Anonymity is important. The Illusionist makes sure everyone is well protected, using their magic to conceal the Web's whereabouts and identities.
Culture
The Web is deeply intertwined, with a strong sense of collectivism that binds them together like a tight-knit family. Once you're part of their web, there's no escape.
Intrigued by the darker aspects of magic, they delve into ancient taboo practices with a bold experimental approach, often treading morally gray territory that even other Dark Fairies may frown upon.
Membership is typically inherited through birth or, rarely, through marriage. The group values strong generational ties, emphasizing lineage within their ranks.
Prospective members must be at least 18 years old, likely undergoing a ritual or rite of passage to join. Interestingly, the leaders have made an exception for their daughter, allowing her entry before the age requirement.
Upon turning 18, members must agree to the Coven's terms, dedicating their magic to the group's cause and sharing some with T.O.W.R.
Each member receives tattoos and is assigned a specific animal as their symbolic mask, further solidifying their connection to the group's traditions and beliefs.
