Bene Lugosi
Bene Lugosi (a.k.a. Trouble)
Bene Lugosi is the prodigy of his adoptive father, Chains The Gray, a priest in Waterdeep who secretly prayed to Mask, the patron god of Thieves and Trickery. Bene grew up to be a sly, conniving and lying man, though he showed honour and warmth to his partners in crime in the city, and avoided fooling and thieving from the poor in the Lower quarters. His plans often succeed, and he's thus far avoided any trouble for himself.
Bene was an orphan, having no memories of his parents. He was sold to Chains at age 7 and already showed masterful skills in lying and acting, proving useful to the mysterious priest who had adopted a quartet of orphans to teach thievery to,
For many years, Bene and his group successfully pulled off several cons, burglaries and common acts of thievery, gathering a sizable pot of gold at Chains' chapel.
One day however, due to a mistake that Bene denies happened, guards were led to the Chapel and down to the secret entrance below where the group's headquarters - and gold - were hidden. Chains was immediately taken into custody, and the quartet of now young adult men dispersed.
Bene left the city for the first time in his life, and found himself enjoying the land outside. He now seeks an alternative, even more lucrative way to accomplish his dream to become "Cleverer and richer than any others", and meet new contacts on the way to that dream.
