Into the Deep

Expedition

The band of adventurers delve deep into the old ruins of Ashvale, long since swallowed by the earth beneath it.

The group, having lost almost everything in the crash and needing a source of income for their further travels as well as heal their compatriot, decided to go exploring in the local ruins of the old town of Ashvale which had long been swallowed by the earth. Heading outside of town for a few hours they eventually found their way to the precipice and began making their way down the steep cavern walls.   During this descent a number of the party had difficulty leading Morgan to plummet the distance to the bottom seemingly to her death but not before large demonic wing sprouted from her back saving her at the last moment from doom. Unsure of where this power came from and trying to summon it again was met with silence from whatever had caused it to happen in the first place. Taking note, but not wavering the group gathered up and headed into the dark much to the detriment of Belomar and Aegis who could not see.   After combating some local wild drakes in the area the group managed to garner the attention of a large Deep Dragon who has made his home amongst the ruins. Hiding from his prowling they managed to avoid his gaze before he was distracted by something deeper within the caverns. Heaving a sigh the group stuck to the shadows managing to dodge roving undead and other drakes hunting eventually making their way deeper into the old town before being attacked by mad warforged who seemed to have once been equipped to mine the area. Dispatching the rogue machine men the group managed to find the target of their expedition, the old home of the Hardstone clan.   Searching the home the adventurers found the item they were encouraged to return to Markus along with other various treasures that could be sold if they made it back to town. However on their way out they were surprised as a missing miner who had been sent down reappeared with undead in tow chasing him down. Engaging with the undead led to the paladin Belomar falling in battle but being brought back and tied to the cleric Nox by the ancient goddess of fate, Istus, however not before the goddess Lolth discovered Nox's presence as well.   Managing to once more dodge the Deep Dragon who has become very aware of their presence in the caverns and was now hunting them the group made their way back up and out of Ashvale. However, a disagreement between the newly resurrected Belomar and Morgan led the two to walk separately through the night back to town causing deep, crippling exhaustion in both while the rest of the party rested at the Deep Run's edge for the night before heading back.
