Faerûn is a continent brimming with magic, diverse civilizations, and countless conflicts. It serves as the heart of the Forgotten Realms and the setting for most Dungeons & Dragons campaigns.


Geography

Faerûn's landscape is incredibly diverse, featuring everything from frozen tundras to lush forests, deserts, and bustling cities. Key regions include:

  • The Sword Coast : A vital and iconic region along the western coastline (map), home to major cities like Waterdeep, Baldur’s Gate, and Neverwinter.
  • The Western Heartlands: Fertile, central lands with trade hubs and frontier cities like Elturel and Berdusk.
  • The North: Wild, rugged lands including Icewind Dale and the spine-chilling Spine of the World mountains.
  • Anauroch: A massive desert created by the fall of the Netherese Empire.
  • The Dalelands: A collection of pastoral valleys, fiercely independent and surrounded by ancient forests.
  • Chult: A tropical peninsula filled with jungles, dinosaurs, and hidden ruins.
  • Amn & Tethyr: Southern merchant states with a focus on trade, wealth, and political intrigue.
