Skullport

Found down the River Sargauth past the level of the same name this underground port has seen better days. Most do not know how to reach this elusive port, but if you are reading this then you have obviously found it (or I screwed up the tags again). The ways to get to the port are as follows, follow the River Sargauth, or traveling through a series of sea caves that lead out under Mount Waterdeep using a complicated contraption that lifts ships over the rapids of the outer caves.

The port itself fills an immense cavern with three levels of ancient city. The town is divided into three levels along with a large island in the middle of the Sargauth River connected to the mainland by a stone bridge. Atop that island sits a fortress built by dwarves to guard the river from invaders. The fortress has been used by many different organizations to secure Skullport, right now it is staffed by members of The Xanathar Guild who have a interest in the town. Well town is too generous its more like the run down section of the town became the whole town.

Skullport has had much better days and is now a shadow of its former self. When once it was a shining haven, of piracy and ill gotten goods. Now it is a large slum with barely any business and a dreary attitude. Residents can have entire houses to themselves and see another person maybe once a day, if they want to that is. Contrary to popular opinion the town does have businesses that still function. They are the Dead Mans Corner a shop run by a sea hag that sells zombies, Thimblewine's Pawnshop a small pawnshop run by a gnome named Krystaleen, The Black Tankard the towns only pub, The Guts & Garters the towns only inn, and various other small shops.

The Harpers are said to have a hidden base in Skullport that aids their agents. The drow house Auvryndar is seeking to take over Skullport from the Xanathar Guild. They have sent their agent Rizzeryl to infiltrate the town. A number of small side quests are to be found here along with a lot of danger if one is not careful.
