Mirak Sardonus
The Lore Keeper of Golden Lion Library and resident bookworm. He has been the Lore Keeper since the mid 1200s DR and had kept the library running smoothly ever since then. Yes you read that right. Unbenounced to most people Mirak is a vampire and has been for some time. He likes to keep it on the down low.
He has a dedication to the spreading of knowledge and learning, and a fierce protective streak when it comes to his charge. He has dedicated his undead life to the preservation and distribution of lore and the betterment of the general quality of knowledge in Waterdeep. He is the reason entrance to the library is free, as is accessing most books. Only those of power or those that could be used for destruction are restricted. Even then a background check and a fee are enough to access most arcane tomes.
He is very protective about the knowledge he keeps and detests people who would destroy valuable pieces of information. He keeps a strict book return and damage policy and is not above enforcing it directly. He has also taken to defending the library from people who would seek to plunder its secrets. You do not want to get on the bad side of a vampire with a centuries of arcane lore at his disposal.

Trivia
- He tends to not get out much on account of his condition but is known to take moonlit walks through the City of the Dead.
- His vampirism is a known secret amongst the staff, he takes no care to hide it from them but likes to not be seen by the visitors.
- Any meeting with him to study rare books must be taken at night for obvious reasons.
