Undercliff - Temple to Sune
The Temple of Sune is located in Undercliff, a small village just outside of Waterdeep. It is the largest temple dedicated to the god within Waterdeep's zone of influence. The temple complex consists of three main buildings and a cave, all situated on a large plot of land surrounded by lush farmland.
Temple Layout
The main building, a grand temple to Sune, is the largest and most ornate of the structures. It boasts high, vaulted ceilings and intricately carved pillars, and is adorned with gold and silver ornaments. A peaceful garden surrounds the temple, filled with colorful flowers and serene fountains. In the back of the temple is a large open courtyard with paths leading to northern and southern structures as well as a fountain. Surrounding the courtyard are small farming plots where the acolytes grow food during suitable months of the year. The northern building is a bathhouse with a very large and very deep pool running the length of it. The bathhouse is private and serves as a place for acolytes to relax and unwind. The southern building is a storage house, used to store food, clothes, and supplies. During the corruption of the temple a hatch was installed in the storehouse leading to a cave underneath.Temple Cavern
Beneath one of the buildings at the rear of the temple complex lies a cavernous cave, accessible via a hatch in the floor of the storehouse. The cave is carved from the natural rock and stretches far beneath the earth. The walls and ceiling are rough and uneven, and the air is damp and cool. There are large pits within that lead down 20+ feet and the cave decends downwards as you go. This cavern was used as a location for a portal to the 9 Hells during the corruption.
