Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Due to damages received during the creation of the tordon race by the Grey Elves tordon females are not able to carry a pregnancy to maturity. As such a surrogate mother has to be found for each an every pregnancy. Any mammal large enough to carry a tordon infant to maturity can function as a surrogate; Tordons have been known to use animals when no sentient species could be found. After a successful mating a female tordon's ovipositor will protrude from her lower diaphragm. The female will use this short, needle-like appendage to deposit the fertilized egg into a surrogate mother's womb. When the infant, who has grown teeth and claws during gestation, has reached gestational maturity it will rip its way out of the womb in whatever direction it happens to be facing. A celebration feast is then made of the body of the surrogate mother and the young tordon has its first taste of meat.

Procuring and sustaining a herd of surrogate mothers and mothers-to-be is of utmost importance to a tribe.
