Kaulindis
Kaulindis is the capitol of Dusda.
(The Pearl Castle, named for the gleaming white marble construction, is built on top of the only “hill” for miles and once served as the frontier of the elven empire protecting and warning of any attacks from the north east. It was from this location that the grey elf movement originated. The humans moved in after the Elven Wars and built a series of red granite fortifications around it.)
It was made entirely of polished, red granite and it shown in the sun. Three massive walls cut the city into three progressively smaller sections, each fitting into the last, every fifty metres a round tower
jutted three stories above the wall. The main road was forced to twist and turn as the gatehouses weren’t built in a row. Each gatehouse had three portcullis and gate combinations that were operated from three separate buildings within the gatehouse. Four towers, two in front and two behind, protected the gates along with the towers in the wall, six ballista that could be wheeled around and an equal number of catapults. There was no roof overtop of the gates, as was normal for plainsmen fortifications, instead there was several catwalks and bridges that allowed the defenders to rain death down on anyone that got past the first gate.
The castle, which was in the centre of the middle ring, was a fortress in and of itself. Beyond the three gates and many towers in its wall the castle building had outer walls just as thick as those that circled it and siege engines were placed every twenty feet along its battlements. The building and wall was constructed with pure white marble
which provide a stark contrast with the blood red city. The actual building covered four city blocks while the complex easily covered ten times that.
