Banderez

Banderez is a small rough town south of the Braggard Woods. it is considered almost a border town with the wild shambling plains to the east and the more civilized Xontar coast to the west. The town is a ramshackle affair surrounded by a wooden fence designed to keep out the casual monster but any thing or one with intent could easily get through. the town is staved of mettle, with almost all the structures made of wood or clay. even stovetops and pots tend to be constructed of lower quality metal. The town has very little in the way of law enforcement with frontier like justice being the norm. /auto

Demographics

A mixed town, mostly human, halfling and dwarves. it is a cosmopolitan in nature considering its backward appearance. The town is a refuge for people hiding from persecution or just hiding from the harsh lands around them.

Government

Magistrate and Baron (both positions currently vacant)

Districts

The town has 3 distinct districts; The Keeps which contains the temples, nobles’ houses and is home to the upper class of the town, most construction in this area is half brick or stone tutor buildings although even this district seems run down compared to other similar district in other towns. the district and town itself is dominated by a keep in the northern part of the district. it is in disrepair and abandoned with no one claim this barony as their own and the king has yet to place a noble in charge. The Commons is the heart of the town, most common folk live and work in the commons. it has 2 Inns and a myriad of shops and businesses. One of the inns, The Wyverns Rest is a pleasant place to stay with room service meals and no noisy tap room, the Jabberwock on the other hand is a busy establishment with a raucous tap room and shared accommodation. the district also houses a weaponsmith, blacksmith, farrier and even a fletcher. The final district is The Hollow, the Hollow is where people go to be forgotten or simple do not have any other place to go. the town as a whole is ramshackle, but the Hollow is barely standing. most of the homes in this district were built by the occupier with scraps and range from simple lean-to up to the Guzzling Host, a tavern known for bad beer and worse fights.

Guilds and Factions

The Aul'daran rangers have a small lodge to the north of town. although not officially active in town members of the Nights Hand sometimes use Banderez as a location to keep low after a high profile job or after being spotted by authorities in other locations.

History

Banderez, founded officially about 35 years ago as a waypoint for smugglers avoiding the coastal road tolls. The town was built on the sight of a former logging town that was abandoned long before the Pale Wars.

Architecture

Much of Banderez is at best a slum, many building are close to falling down or rotting and due to the high turnover of residence little is done in the way of repair, the better structures in town tend to be timber construction with thatched rooves with some stone structure in the best parts of town.
