The Tetralogy of Fallot (old white guys)

Overview

The Tetralogy of Fallot was formed only thirty years ago, by the four humans who still control the city today. As young men, they decided to seize power of their otherwise disorganized small city, in the hopes of giving it importance within the Core Lands. This effort was spearheaded by Ventrificus and Pulmon, who at the time were best friends. The intervening years have pushed them apart, however, with very different motives for power revealing themselves. PULMON STENOSI Originally from Kintok, Pulmon's mother fled with him to Borea-Malun when he was four years old. She died shortly thereafter. He grew up the local orphanage of Fallot, where bullying and exclusion taught him to quickly hate where he had come from. As soon as possible, he began to dye his hair to hide the Kintok white, and he cut off his sixth finger. Few people outside of the rest of the Tetralogy know of his background. Now, he is the immigration minister responsible for much of the discrimination found in Fallot, aiming to make it a place of total homogeneity. This may be a misguided attempt to keep from seeing the same ostracization that plagued him as a child. VENTRIFICUS SEPTUS DE'FET Ventrificus is the diplomatic trade minister of Fallot. Like the rest of the Tetralogy, he grew up in the local orphanage, where he dreamed of seeing the world. That was difficult when in the small, landlocked city of Fallot, as well as a congenital heart defect that requires he use a cane to walk anything more than a short distance. This eventually led to a growing interest in politics. The same adventures great explorers could have, Ventrificus could experience through study and diplomacy. A gifted and persuasive writer, his well-placed letters to the Five-Point Authority helped Fallot gain unprecedented power and status in a short time. He often pushes his fellow council members to be more open to outside cultures, though as time as gone on, it has become more for monetary reasons. RIVEN HYPERION Every group of tyrannical men needs its muscle; Riven is theirs. He was protective of his friends while growing up in the orphanage. Riven is deaf, and to avoid the bullying from other children, he focused on making himself physically intimidating. While he disapproves of many of his friends' policies and practices now, he is fiercely loyal and wants them to succeed regardless. He often proofreads Ventrificus' letters and policies-- while Ventrificus is a gifted writer, he can't spell, and Riven has a keen eye for detail. OVRIT YORTA Ovrit was the son of the orphanage's mistress, younger by about three years than the rest of his friends. Lonely and isolated from the other children both in and out of the orphanage, he was seen as little more than a spoiled rich boy (which wasn't entirely inaccurate). The three others struck a bargain with him when they were young; if he brought them extra food and the occasional gold coin, they would tolerate his presence as a friend. He now serves the city as its Head of Hospitality, welcoming travelers in much like his friends welcomed him: for a price. Ventrificus and Riven agreed to choose their own last names upon leaving the orphanage, rather than keeping their given last names (usually, where the orphan was found). Ventrificus chose two names of his favorite explorers (he couldn't choose between them and thought it sounded rather grandiose), while Riven chose the name of a festival in the city he always wanted to attend (ironically, Ventrificus made the Hyperion festival retroactively into one celebrating his younger "brother," rather than the solar god). Pulmon's last name (Stenosi) was his mother's; although he did not want to keep it, he wasn't legally allowed to alter it due to red tape surrounding Kintoki humans.
