The Fan and the Flame VI

My magic continued getting stronger even without Reya's help. My parents hired new instructors, but they were a lot more strict. That was probably intentional. They didn't want any more incidents.   It didn't last forever. I'd just finished training when I heard the knock. Both my parents were busy, so I opened the door and was met by soldiers with crossed arms.   "Sanctity Veretta, I presume?" the one in front said.   "Who's asking?" I replied.   "The Order of Brim. We need to speak with you and your parents." They pushed past me and looked around. "Where are they?"   I shrugged. "Busy. I can go get them."   They nodded, and I went to my parents' room.   "Mother. Father," I said. They looked up. "The Order of Brim is here."   My parents stood up quickly. "Well, we shouldn't keep them waiting," my mother said. She knew why they were here.   We went back out and my father invited them to sit down. We sat down as well. There was silence for a while, and then my father turned to me.   "Sanctity, dear. These soldiers have come to take you to join the Order."   My gaze snapped to him. "They what?"   The lead soldier leaned forward on the table. "You are special, Sanctity. Your family has not borne a tiefling in generations. Your parents have already agreed that you will join the Order."   "My parents aren't me," I said. "I haven't agreed to anything. Why should I go with you?"   "Frankly," the soldier said, "because you don't have a choice."   My mother put a hand on my shoulder. "This will be good for you, Sanctity. The Order has incredibly good instructors. They can teach you."   I clenched my fists, then looked at the soldiers. "Give me a few minutes. I'll meet you outside."   They looked at each other, then nodded and stood up. "We'll be waiting."   They left the building, and I turned to glare at my parents.   "Tell me something."
