Zariel - Archduke of Avernus

Zariel is the Archdevil of Wrath and the Archduke of Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells. She is a wrathful and reckless Devil who is obsessed with battle, focused almost entirely on ending the Blood War that rages on the planes of Avernus.
Zariel leads the armies of the Hells, she is powerful and ferocious, fighting with a righteous fury unseeing in the Hells. Zariel heavily relies on pure power and an unyielding determination to win fights, having little use for strategy or tactics.

Apperance

Zariel is a feminine presenting humanoid, muscular with ashen grey skin, long fiery hair, glowing red eyes and black, burning feathered wings.
She is usually heavily armoured, wielding her celestial sword in one hand and an infernal flail in the other.

History

Zariel was once the Archangelof Patience before falling. As anArchangel, Zariel was obsessed with ridding the universe of evil and ending mortal suffering, with her primary focus on the Blood War of Avernus.
She repeatedly beseeched Metatron and the other Archangels to send the armies of the Heavens down to Avernus to aid the Devils and end the Blood War for good, thus removing the Demons from existence and ending all the suffering they bring. At every point Zariel was refused and repeatedly forbidden from entering the conflict.
Zariel despised being a neutral observer while she could be preventing suffering. It all became too much for Zariel after a rogue Demon invasion slaughtered an entire city of people before they were stopped. Zariel, with righteous fury, demanded that the heavenly army should do something, but she was ignored and dismissed.
Unable to remain blind to the suffering, Zariel descended to Avernus with a legion of loyal Celestials, with the aim to end the Blood War, or die trying. With unyielding fury Zariel and her forces cut through hordes of Demons, decemating wave after wave, until eventually it became too much. Zariel’s forces were cut down and she was exhausted, almost spent. But before her enemy could land the final blow a legion of Devils came to her aid, lead by the Lord of the Nine themself, Asmodeus. They saved Zariel, and escorted her back to safety.
Asmodeus was sympathetic to Zariel’s cause, understanding the difficulty of her situation, claiming that the Hells had been declined aid from Celestia to hunt down stray Demons for aeons. Zariel could not return to Celestia after what she had done, and once she recovered she planned to rejoin the fight until she was eventually victorious or dead. But Asmodeus offered her a different path, the position of Archduke of Avernus, so that she may lead the armies of the Hells against the Demon horde, so that she could dedicate her life to the war she’d dreamed of ending instead of throwing it away. Eventually, persuaded by Asmodeus' words, Zariel accepted, becoming the Archduke of Avernus and the high general of the army of the Hells.
After centuries Zariel would become warped by the constant conflict of the Blood War and athe environment of the Nine Hells, becoming more rage-fueled and vindictive. She would also change physically, becoming more Devil than Celestial, with her appearance matching that, fully embracing her position as the Archdevil of Wrath.
