The Undying Order
The Undying Order, sometimes called the Order of True Magic (OTM), are an illegal organisation that secretly practice Necromancy and other dark magics. They primarily operate in Hepsut.
The organisation has connections, and can trace its origin, to the former lich and tyrant of Hepsut, Malukard. Founded sometime around 682 AF, before or after the Malukard Empire. The organisation acted under the authority of the tyrant Malukard himself, calling themselves his students. Members of the Undying Order specialised in the practice of Necromancy and other dark magics. Many of the atrocities committed during the Malukard Empire were done by members of the Undying Order.
After Malukard’s defeat and the fall of the Empire, the surviving members of the Undying Order went into hiding. The organisation still attempted to operate in the following centuries, but with the new ban of Necromantic Magic, the organisation has had little success under the constant persecution and pursuit by the Coven of Maran.
The Order of True Magic
In modern times the Undying Order has attempted to re-brand as the Order of True magic (OTM). Preaching a rhetoric that Magic should be democratised, and that any ban on magic is a direct attack on the people’s freedom as mages. They argue that all magic is a tool, that it can not be evil, and Necromancy should be legalised again. They argue that illegal spells and rituals would be better understood by allowing their practice.
The organisation has been met with a lot of pushback from scholars and the general population, and hasn’t had much success. Though some were swayed by the rhetoric, leading to a string of expulsions from the Rhean Academy in 2073 AF.
While members of OTM claim they have no affiliation with Undying Order, the Coven of Maran has condemned the OTM as dangerous and branded the organisation as illegal and a cult.
