Pan - The Rustic Lord

Pan was an ancient Archfey of the Feywild and a Wildfey. Pan was known to be a rambunctious and exuberant entity, filled with merry song and dance, and responsible for throwing grand and boisterous parties in the Feywild.   Pan was also known to be a debauched individual, a great enjoyer of food, wine and sex. Many stories about Pan involve him attempting and failing to court many Nymphs across the Planes. Because of this Pan is often associated with the God Dionysus, with records stating that they were close friends and rivals in the business of throwing grand celebrations.   Pan closely resembles a Satyr and is believed to be the first Satyr. He was often surrounded and attended to by an entourage of Satyr who honoured him as a god-like figure.   Pan was the patron of shepherds and the lord of the mountain wilds of the Feywild, gaining him the title of “The Rustic Lord”. Old stories mention Pan wandering the rural countryside of Exorsia, protecting flocks and blessing shepherds. His unseen presence was said to arouse panic in trespassers those who traversed through his rustic realm.   Pan has not been seen or heard from in centuries, ever since the dawn of Age of Arcanum. Many speculate that the environmental problems present in the Age of Arcanum caused Pan to either die or fade into nature. Many Satyr still cling onto hope that their Lord would return, holding grand celebrations in an attempt to entice him back to them.

Appearance:

Pan commonly appeared as a masculine presenting humanoid, portly in shape with curled horns, hairy goat-like legs and tail, curly brown hair and a thick beard. Pan was usually nude, covered in only the thick fur and body hair that covered his body.

Myth:

Pan is credited with the creation of the Panpipes, which bear his name. Their creation story is a common tale told by Satyrs.   As the story goes, one day Pan came across a sorry gathering of Satyr while travelling the wilds. The Satyr had no music to entertain themselves. Saddened by the sombre mood Pan wanted to bring joy and liven the gathering, but there were no instruments around.   So Pan is said to have gone to a nearby river and asked for a clump of reeds from the river Naiad that resided there. From these Pan created the Panpipes and brough song and dance to the gathering.    To this day many Satyr carry a pair of Panpipes so they would not be without song and dance when the event called for it.
