Apophis - He Who Devours
Apophis, sometimes called Apep or Typhon, is the God of Chaos and Destruction and the progenitor of all snakes.
Apophis is a cruel and malevolent deity, they are the embodiment of destruction, they desire nothing more than to consume all of creation, with their most common depiction being Apophis swallowing the sun.
Both Apophis and Tartarus are branded as the Gods of chaos and evil, they were imprisoned in the early universe after attempting to destroy the Gods and bring an end to all of creation. Apophis is currently imprisoned within the Plane of Limbo The Gods struggle to maintain Apophis’ prison as they relentlessly try to escape.
Because Apophis' is evil they are usually only referred to by epithets, such as “He Who Devours” or “Gods Bane” as to avoid invoking them or drawing their attention.
Apophis is not worshipped outside of specific cults, such as the Yuan-ti who believe that snakes are the perfect and ideal form.

Apperance
Apophis is commonly depicted as a gargantuan, planet size snake, usually a cobra, with black or red scales and veins of magma running over their body. Apophis is also sometimes depicted as a colossal winged giant, scaled with two coiled serpents in place of legs, a hundred serpent-heads for fingers, a filthy, matted beard and a moth of boiling fire.
