Aberrations
Aberrations are a group of species from the Aberratia ancestry and primarily originate from the Astral Sea. Creatures of the Aberratia ancestry can be recognised by their unnatural and alien appearances, commonly possessing tentacles and slick, sometimes slimy skin. Many Aberrations appear like mutated or twisted versions of Exorsian species.
Aberrations are believed to be connected to the Eldritch Horrors, terrifying and unfathomable cosmic beings that haunt the deepest reaches of the Astral Sea , either being descended from them, or being mutated by their influence.
Almost all Aberrations are Immortals, ranging from Beasts to Greater Idols. Gith are the only Mortal species of Aberration, and are therefore exempt from a majority of the Aberrations shared characteristics.
Shared Characteristics
Ageless. Aberrations usually cease to age once they reach maturity, but they can be killed.
Appearance. There are very few consistent visual signifiers between Aberrations, though many of them have tentacles, as well as slick, sometimes slimy skin, similar to that of Cephalopods.
Enhanced Senses. Most Aberrations have enhanced vision that allows them to see clearly in darkness, with more powerful Aberrations able to see invisible creatures and even see through illusions.
Psionic Resilience. Aberrations are usually resistant or immune to Psychic damage, their thoughts can't be read, and Magic can't detect their locations or observe them remotely.
Psionics. Aberrations tend to have numerous innate Psionic abilities, including telepathy and telekinesis.
Reproduction. Aberrations tend to be single-sex species that reproduce asexually, usually through laying eggs or by undergoing a mitosis, depending on the species.
Sex & Gender. Aberrations are usually sexless creatures, often with no notion of gender and androgynous appearances.
Telepathy. Aberrations primary communicate through a universal telepathy, rarely communicating audibly, with many of them unable to speak. Deep Speech, the language of Aberrations, is an exclusively written language because of this.
Unchanging. Aberrations are unchanging beings, they do not posses Souls or Free Will, and are incapable of acting out of character or reinventing themselves.
Unnatural Nature. Aberrations usually don't need to breathe, and many of them feed on unnatural substances, such as mental energy and thoughts, instead of more conventional foods.
