Battle of Snake pass
This is the name the Snake Clan has given to the weeks-long battle where the 1st company of the 9th regiment of the Dracon Empire Southern army held the pass against the Azai Trade Family house troops and prevented them from slaying the last remeaning members of the Snake Clan at the end of Empire Trade War.
The battle started when the Azai Trade Family ordered the commander of the 1st of the 9th to murder all the surviving clan members before pulling out. The commander knew this was in violation of The Original 10 rules of genocide but also knew disobeying the order would require him to end his life. He entered the ancient temple of death in Biddeford where he comune with Anubis God of Death and Anat Goddess of War (the 9th patron). They showed him a vision, that if he gave his life successfully defending the clan's people in Biddeford against Azai Trade Family and killed the person that had given the order, his soul would be not only cleansed but also honored for doing what is right as would any of the 1st that followed him into battle.
He gave his trooper and the Azai Trade Family trooper the choice to follow him or leave. All chose to stay and fight to save the clan members even the family troops. Every one of them undertook the Dracon Empire soldiers Death right pledging their soul to Torment if they did not succeed in defending Biddeford.
Outnumbered 5 to 1 they entered the pass and conducted a gorilla war against the Azai Trade Family troops that not only stopped them but also destroyed the troops and allowed the surviving members of the 1st to attack the Azai Trade Family compound in Saco.
Clan history has it that all members of the 1st of the 9th died during the fighting to free Saco with only auxiliary troopers surviving with most of them being clan members.
It is said that the commander finally succumbed to his wounds, which he has taken during the battle, once he had beheaded the leader of Azai Trade Family that gave the orders.
It has been noted that in the Saco Empire gave yard they're not the right number of graves for every member of the 1st of the 9th to be buried there but the Snake Clan recorded say that they are "will" be all there eventually.
