De Locean II
De Locean the 2nd was a famous hero of the Auru People who lived in the coastal area of Bek Budi. He helped bring the local people together into a social group and first fortified the city that now bears his name. He helped forge the local identity of the inhabitants of the peninsula and helped forge a local character for the Auru People. Before De Locean's time, the people were more scattered and considered themselves members of family tribes not as a race of people.
De Locean lived about 1700 years ago and while not originally from the seaside town he made it his home for the last 50 years of his life. He is credited with planning and arranging for the building of the city wall. Arranging for the building of a protected harbour for the offloading of ships in all weather. Opening trade with the inland of the land that would eventually become Bek Budi and other city-states along the nearby sea coast.
He was able to motivate people and he set up the first city government in the town. At that time the town was called Bierrell but it became known as Port De Locean after his death.
What is mainly unknown by the population of that time, is that de Locean was a runaway captured noble from the area of modern-day Tosna. He had been captured in a raid just after his 16th birthday and had been captive in Nomana for 5 years before escaping and making his way to the city of Bierrell.
His noble background was the perfect education to prepare himself for a role in city building and he thrived in an environment that appreciated the input of new ideas. The city though rough was modernising and as such was the perfect conduit for his rise to fame.
Over his last 20 years, he became the mayor of the city and was instrumental in improving the roads and water supply to the city. The city became known as the jewel of the peninsula and was a thriving business city at the time of his death.
